3 Doors Down - Citizen Soldier

Have you see this video yet? It plays before movies at Cinemark movie theaters in the Bay Area as an advertisement for the National Guard. I think it's a pretty catchy song, and the National Guard has a great history, but I can't help but notice how there's almost no recent footage of the National Guard serving in Iraq. Because that's a huge point of controversy right now, isn't it? Don't a lot of people think that too many of our National Guardsmen and women are deployed in Iraq right now?

It just seems a little disingenuous to me to leave out more footage of the Guard serving in Iraq, especially considering the war and that anyone under 30 who enlisted in the Guard in the past year stands a good chance of being sent there.

why would they put something controversial in a recruitment add when you can show the proud history which in itsself was marred in controversy when it was being made thing about it one day your kids will read about this in a history book as we read about WWII
Hi sandbred,

Because as a recruitment ad it's disingenuous. It's only fair and honorable to show where many new recruits would be sent, which is to Iraq. It smacks of false advertising to me.

I know the Guard has a proud history, but the ad is designed to lure new recruits. It's not meant as a documentary to highlight the Guard's proud history. It's designed to trick people into signing up.
