Besides the loss of life, I would say I'm most bothered by the lack of progress. If we'd gone into Iraq and the war had ended back in 2003, then while it still would have been a mistake, it may have been worth it all in the end.
Not to belittle the sacrifice, but in some ways it's like in football when it's 4th and long, if a quarterback breaks out of the pocket on his own 20 yard line, we think he's crazy, but if he makes it over to a sideline and runs 80 yards for a touchdown, we praise him as a brilliant leader.
Bottom line: results matter. And right now the results in Iraq and even in Afghanistan just suck. They're horrendous. And the problems are NOT the fault of the Armed Forces. We know the terrorists are adapting and are smart, but aren't we also?
Why the hell is Donald Rumsfeld still a part of this administration -- that's what I'd like to know.

Some Iraqis are starting to say that they would better off when saddam was still in power. Economically, security and basic needs.
